Vaccine Safety: Truth or Myth?

It's no secret vaccines have their enemies. The number of parents who aren't vaccinating their kids is growing, and no matter how much the CDC, FDA or AMA clamors against them, these parents have good reasons.

With the Disney measles fiasco came a volcano of heat on both sides of the issue. Vaccine advocates and opponents have argued constantly about whether vaccines are safe or, in fact, dangerous to our children and the future health of our nation, as a whole.

Scientifically, when the many facets of the immune system are studied, vaccine safety is highly questionable.

Ethically, vaccines are even more questionable.

Several vaccines, the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella), chickenpox, whooping cough, shingles, tetanus, and polio vaccines  each contain aborted fetal tissues, on top of other animal tissues and known toxins, such as mercury, aluminum, and thimerosal.

The body can fight these toxins in small amounts if ingested properly. However, when injected into the body through a syringe, vaccines bypass the body's regular protection system - the gut. The gut, through digestion, can choose which chemicals are allowed into the bloodstream and can omit mercury and aluminum from being absorbed. However, when injected, these chemicals dive directly into the bloodstream and are absorbed by and collect in the body's organs, the brain included. Within the brain it can cause issues such as Parkinsons, Alzheimer's, Gulf's War Syndrome, and other neurological issues that, in recent years, are growing more and more common.

CDC/FDA-acknowledged side effects range from:

  • redness or swelling
  • poor appetite
  • fever
  • drowsiness
  • nausea/vomiting
  • diarrhea
  • respiratory infections
  • yeast infections
  • and tenderness

  • fainting
  • seizures
  • Erythema (the rash associated with Lyme's disease)
  • blood in stools
  • pneumonia
  • brain inflammation or tumors
  • blindness
  • deafness
  • epilepsy
  • and death.

The MMR vaccine alone has caused 103 deaths in the US since 2003, while the measles has caused none.

As vaccine rates have risen, infant mortality rates have, as well. The United States has the highest rate of vaccination in the world. Infants are given 26 vaccines within their first year alone. We also have the highest number of infant deaths. Furthermore, the increase in vaccinations correlates with a marked increase in childhood health issues such as allergies, asthma, gut issues, chronic infections, serious brain damage (including autism), and learning and developmental issues such as ADD and ADHD.

Autoimmune disorders have also grown in number. Although further study needs to be done on the subject, the correlation makes sense. The more these artificial, toxin-laced vaccines are injected into the immune system - a vast, complicated, multi-faceted process we don't yet fully comprehend - the greater the risk of injuring that system.

What about the widely-touted benefits of vaccination, such as herd immunity? What about the elimination of these infectious diseases?

When it comes to herd immunity, vaccine-acquired immunity is eminently different from the immunity gained from disease recovery. Immunity from vaccines eventually fades, allowing vaccinated people (children and adults alike) to not only catch the disease they've been inoculated against, but also to act as carriers.

This may also occur during the vaccine shedding period - generally a two or three week span after injection when a vaccinated person may experience a lighter version of the disease and/or spread the disease to others.

Vaccinated persons often cannot discern when or if they are carrying a disease, hence these widespread, seemingly random outbreaks, like the most recent measles outbreak and the whopping cough outbreak of 2010.

This makes vaccinated persons a far greater danger to unvaccinated persons than the reverse.

Worse, vaccines are NOT eliminating infectious diseases. In fact, most of these common diseases were on their way out before the development of their vaccines.vaccinesIt was likely an increased understanding of sanitation, science, and nutrition  that caused the decrease in these diseases before the introduction of vaccines.

What vaccines have accomplished, however, is the development of newer, stronger vaccine-resistent strains of the very diseases they claim to prevent and eradicate. It's the same issue scientists are seeing with antibiotics. The stronger they make the "cure", the stronger the infection resists.

As for the claims that vaccines DO NOT cause autism, the evidence against those claims is piling up day by day, though the government tries tirelessly to cover it up.

A senior scientist for the CDC, William Thompson, recently issued a statement with his lawyer admitting he omitted evidence from a 2004 study indicating that the MMR vaccine - the very vaccine being so tirelessly promoted by the media - does present a raised risk of autism in African American males. He says, "Decisions were made regarding which findings to report after the data were collected, and I believe that the final study protocol was not followed." He goes on to say, "There have always been recognized risks for vaccination and I believe it is the responsibility of the CDC to properly convey the risks associated with receipt of those vaccines."

The CDC, however, has not been properly conveying those risks. In fact, as the recent media storm can attest, they're doing the very opposite.

In 1986, an act called the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act was established to keep vaccine makers and physicians from being sued for any injury caused to a child injected with a vaccine. Any adverse side effects or death proven and attributed to a vaccine are responded to with a payment to the family of the victim.

The act's program office controls and coordinates all immunization-related policies in the CDC, FDA, NHIS, and the Health Resources and Services Administration.

Vaccines are constantly promoted as safe. If that were the case, why is the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act so necessary? Established so early after the development of their key vaccines, such an act points to a quick realization of the need to protect themselves from any slander or injury.

The government is protected from vaccine damage. The people of America, however, are not.

How can we protect ourselves and our families without the use of vaccines?

The answer is simple. Through nursing and continuing to nurture children with a whole food, organic, nutritious diet, we can arm children with the tools they need to fight and conquer infection without the use of these dangerous medications.

A healthy mother's milk provides all the protection a baby needs, and whole foods alone have curative properties stronger than most medications, and without any dangerous side effects. Whole food alone have nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants capable of fighting off infections as simple as colds and flu to harsher diseases, such as multiple sclerosis and cancer.

Herbal supplements can also help prevent and reverse infections. The number of immune-boosting, antioxidant-rich, infection-fighting herbs is virtually countless. Silver is one of the best non-herbal remedies, and if the Nature's Sunshine brand is used, can be taken safely in large quantities with no adverse side effects.

Most vaccines target diseases that were once common, easily treated, and most of the time, non-life-threatening. Why should we give our children, the future of America, something that could give them autism, Alzheimer's or Dementia, ADD, ADHD, seizures, or something worse?

The answer is simple. We shouldn't.

16 Reasons You Should Eat Sprouts...And Lots of Them.

If you, like many people, are trying to make the switch from the standard American diet of sugar, hydrogenated oils, GMOs and packaged, processed foods to real, raw, whole foods organically-grown and packed to the brim with nutrients, then you may want to check out sprouts. Used in Asia for thousands of years as a cure for disease and still a dietary staple in most Asian cultures, sprouts h ave a long history of health. In fact, aptain James Cook used them to combat scurvy amongst his crew on the many two or three year trips he spent traversing the globe.

They've only been used in the western world since World War II, when they were used as a sturdy source of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. Able to be planted and grown anywhere and at any time, without the use of soil, sprouts were used commonly throughout the war.

Sprouts have a wide number of nutritional advantages, some of which include:

  • high amounts of Vitamins C & A
  • the entire B-complex
  • increased chlorophyll content
  • higher protein than un-sprouted seeds/nuts/legumes
  • improved calcium, iron, and zinc absorption
  • higher levels of amino acids
  • enriched vitamin E and beta-carotene content
  • reduced gluten proteins
  • high amounts of fiber
  • fewer food allergens
  • more antioxidants

Health benefits of sprouts include:

  • stimulating digestive enzymes in the body
  • converting starch to natural sugar, more easily assimilated and easy on the blood sugar
  • improving digestion and bioavailability
  • breaking down anti-nutrients (compounds that prevent nutrients from being digested, causing several vitamin/mineral deficiencies)
  • supporting beneficial intestinal flora

Sprouts are highly versatile. They pack a nutritious punch by themselves, but can also be

  • adding them to salads
  • using them in place of greens for salads
  • adding them to sandwiches (in place of lettuce or just for their own merit)
  • putting them in soups
  • mixing them in smoothies or juices
  • blending them in hummus
  • grinding them and using them as flour in baking
  • including them in stir fry dishes
  • and more!

Be creative. Sprouts can be used in a number of ways. You're only limited by your imagination!

Growing sprouts at home is relatively simple and extraordinarily inexpensive.

While it's possible to grow them in a Mason or Ball jar, it involves much more work than growing sprouts in a sprouting tray. In jars, sprouts have to be rinsed multiple times daily to prevent bacterial or mold growth, and trays produce a much larger quantity in half the trouble and without taking precious sink space.

Before you can sprout seeds, however, they need to be soaked. Soak times vary, but the method remains the same. Simply soak seeds/grains/beans/nuts in a bowl for the time allotted on this chart. If the soak time is longer than twelve hours, change out the water and do so again every twelve hours until ready for sprouting.

To sprout:

  1. Rinse and strain seeds, nuts, beans, or grains.
  2. Add a dash of water - one or two tablespoons or so - to keep the sprouts slightly damp. There's no need to submerge them completely.
  3. Leave them out for the proper sprouting time based on the type of sprouts used.
  4. When fully-grown, rinse the sprouts and store in an air-tight container for up to a week, rinsing and switching them to a new container every day to eliminate contamination.
  5. Eat and enjoy!
