What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the compounds that is found in the cannabis plant. There a hundreds of different compounds found in the cannabis plant, but CBD is one of the compounds that does not affect the users in a psychedelic way. CBD oil is a non-intoxicating compound that has shown promise in treating and managing symptoms of a broad range of diseases. The compound has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties.

There are some historic text that show that CBD was used in 2900 BC by the Chinese as a joint discomfort healer. While in 1000 BC, people in India used it as an overall health supporter. Although CBD seems to be a new health drug, it has been around for a long time and still has the same health benefits.

CBD can help with a verity of health concerns from cancer to anxiety. When it comes to anxiety, studies show that 30% of adults in the U.S. and 25% of teenagers are affected by anxiety. How to use CBD

CBD comes in many different forms, but the most common is oil. The oil form of CBD is also the most potent and easiest way to intake it. Most CBD oil comes in a bottle with a dropper, this makes it easy to measure and ingest.

If you have low pain, recommended usage is 5-10 milligram dosage. If you have medium pain, recommended usage is 10-20 milligram dosage. If you have high pain, recommended usage is 20-110 milligram dosage. You can always start with a low dosage for 3-7 days and then go back and see if it's helping, then add more to the dosage as needed. It takes about 30-60 minutes for the CBD effects to kick in and for the pain to go away. The effects of the CBD should last about 4-6 hours, depending in the dosage and the person.

Sugar: Harmless Sweetener or Deadly Drug?

In this day and age, sugar has a bad rep. Most people are aware that they should watch how much they eat, but not everyone is aware of the reasons. Most know it adds to their waistline little by little, year by year, but that's only one side effect. There are many more, lesser-known reasons we should seriously avoid sugar and make every effort to eliminate it completely from our diets.

SUGAR:

1) Damages your skin. It can harm the already existing collagen and elastin proteins that keep your skin supple and strong, producing wrinkles and sagging. As if that wasn't bad enough, sugar can alter the production of collagen and inhibit antioxidant enzymes. This, in turn, leaves your skin weak, wrinkly, and far more susceptible to sunburn.

2) Prevents Vitamin C Absorption. Similar in structure, glucose (sugar) and Vitamin C battle to get into white blood cells. If there is too much sugar in the blood stream, Vitamin C cannot get in, and the immune system cannot perform its jobs. This leaves the immune system hindered and depressed.

3) Drains the body of nutrients. Since sugar itself has no nutrients, vitamins or minerals, to be metabolized by the body, the body has to use up its own stores, which in turn halts fatty acid and cholesterol absorption. High cholesterol levels, serious vitamin and mineral deficiencies, heart disease, obesity, and diabetes are a few things that can result over time if no dietary change is made.

4) Causes Osteoporosis. As with Vitamin C, Sugar inhibits calcium absorption. This leads to weaker, brittle bones more prone to breakage. After prolonged exposure, sugar can lead to low bone density, rotten teeth, and osteoporosis.

5) Increases your risk of autoimmune and degenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. By inhibiting natural functions and processes, it allows all sorts of havoc to run rampant in the body.

6) Weakens the liver. Regular consumption of sugar leads to a build-up in the liver. This causes the liver to convert it into fat, which leads to clogging. This slows down and can completely stop liver function, causing Fatty Liver Disease and a number of other health issues, including the shutdown of your pancreas. An organ with over three-hundred functions, a stressed liver will cause no shortage of problems.

7) Raises triglyceride levels and bad cholesterol. The higher the sugar consumption, the higher the triglyceride and bad cholesterol levels. In addition, good cholesterol levels drop drastically and the risk of heart disease rises.

8) Triggers the brain the same way morphine does. It meets all the criteria of a drug, and it's in nearly every processed, packaged, and fast food on the market. Sugar addictions are very real and very widespread. Once consumed, sugar sparks a desire for more, and the more eaten, the greater the craving. Bingeing is becoming more and more common, as is obesity.

Sugar withdrawal is also a serious issue. Symptoms include:

  • muscle aches
  • shaking
  • anxiety/depression
  • headaches
  • exhaustion
  • moodiness/irritability
  • lightheaded-ness
  • and other flu-like symptoms.

9) Accelerates aging. By damaging cells, sugar causes them - and you - to age faster, increasing the rate of cell death. Couple this with a fatty liver, and the risk of cancer and degenerative diseases skyrockets.

10) Feeds yeast, fungus, and bacteria. This one is pretty self-explanatory. With all the other side effects of sugar, this one shouldn't be surprising. Yeast, fungus and bacteria slurp sugar up. They thrive off of it, and they'll live off anyone who eats it regularly. Eliminating sugar can drastically eliminate these infections.

11) Damages your heart. Not only does sugar raise your risk of heart disease as mentioned above, recent studies have also found that sugar actually alters the heart's pumping mechanisms.It does so by altering proteins, the building blocks for your heart and your body.

12) Feeds Cancer. Cancer uses sugar as its prime energy and food source. Sugar consumption has been linked to breast, prostate, rectal, pancreatic, lung, gallbladder, and stomach cancers, and the list is growing.

Lies My Doctor Told Me

There are a lot of myths floating around in the health industry. Most of them are accepted by the public at large, and the plain and simple truth is this: most of them are completely false. Below are a few "lies" circulated in the health and medical industry in our country and the reasons why they are so evidently wrong.

1. CHOLESTEROL IS LINKED TO HEART DISEASE.

This is a clear, blatant lie.

The human body actually needs cholesterol to be healthy.

Despite what the medical industry and the FDA tell us, there is no link between high cholesterol and heart disease. In fact, people with high cholesterol run the same risk of heart disease as people with low cholesterol.

On the other hand, low cholesterol levels have been associated with an elevated risk of death from other issues, such as cancer and suicide.

 

2. SYNTHETIC HORMONES ARE SAFE.

The words "synthetic" and "hormone" should never be together.

Hormones play many vital roles in the human body, and to give the body something synthetic - and usually, something taken from the urine of a pregnant horse - doesn't make sense. Worse, most of synthetic hormones stimulate the production of a hormone called estrone, which is actually a carcinogen.

Since the start of synthetic hormones in the 1950s, serious side effects such as cancer, blood clots, stroke, and elevated risks of heart disease have led doctors to prescribe to shorter time spent on these hormones, but not an end to their use.

As a result, bio-identical hormones have grown in popularity. These natural alternatives are safer and can be used in a personalized treatment program to fit the patient. They're often more effective and used in the body exactly as if the body produced them itself.

However, the FDA doesn't regulate bio-identical hormone production.  This leads to the circulation of phony, questionably-sourced products on the market.

3. ULTRASOUNDS ARE COMPLETELY SAFE FOR UNBORN BABIES.

This one may come as a bit of a shocker. Most people regard ultrasounds as a regular, normal part of life. Everyone gets them these days. Not having an ultrasound can raise a lot of eyebrows.

However, there are many good reasons not to, and the list is lengthening.

Did you know ultrasound imaging is being used as a weight loss technique?

That's correct. A weight loss technique that works by loosening, breaking, and washing fat away.

And this is the exact same system being used to view unborn children, whose nervous systems and brains are made almost entirely of fat. 

Study after study has been done on ultrasound imaging proving its adverse effects, but sadly, all of them are disregarded as the systems in use today are six to eight times more intense than those in the 1990s when the studies were performed.

Even now, the AMA (American Medical Association) doesn't recommend unnecessary ultrasounds to:

  • Determine the sex or age of the child
  • Confirm multiple pregnancy
  • Check size or growth
  • Determine the baby’s position in the womb

Most of the above can be determined through common midwife practices or other methods.

The only reason they recommend an ultrasound is to ascertain the condition of the unborn child if serious malformation or high risk is suspected.

That should say enough, but unfortunately, most doctors recommend ultrasounds regardless, and the consequences are growing. Ultrasounds have been linked to:

  • Overheating in bone, tissue and fluid
  • Brain damage
  • Smaller birth weight
  • Higher miscarriage rates
  • Higher chance of “left-handedness”, particularly in males, which is linked to brain damage
  • Slowed or stuttered speech
  • Higher risk of learning difficulties
  • More premature or later births

 

4. VACCINES DON'T HAVE ANY SIGNIFICANT SIDE EFFECTS.

It's no secret vaccines have their enemies. The number of parents who aren't vaccinating their kids is growing, and there are good reasons for this.

This link has a list of vaccines and the known side effects for each. They range from:

  • redness or swelling
  • poor appetite
  • fever
  • drowsiness
  • nausea/vomiting
  • diarrhea
  • and tenderness

to:

  • fainting
  • seizures
  • respiratory infections
  • yeast infections
  • Erythema (the rash associated with Lyme's disease)
  • blood in stools
  • pneumonia
  • and worse.

There has also been a huge rise in infant mortality rates. The United States has the highest in the world, along with the highest number of vaccinations. Furthermore, with the increase in vaccinations in recent years, there has been a marked increase in childhood health issues such as allergies, asthma, gut issues, chronic infections, serious brain damage (including autism), and learning and developmental issues such as ADD and ADHD.

Coincidence? Probably not.

The best thing to do is to educate yourself. This article is a good place to start, but the Internet is a vast place.

Do the research. Think wisely. Vaccines are rapidly producing resistant and warped strains of diseases rather than eliminating them, and can weaken already compromised immune systems in small children and the elderly.

Do we really want to give them to our kids?

 

5. CHEMOTHERAPY AND RADIATION ARE THE ONLY WAYS TO FIGHT CANCER.  This is a lie we see perpetrated every day. Cancer can be caused by a variety of issues, but there are several bodily issues that, were they in balance, would make it virtually impossible to produce cancer. The body was designed to digest raw foods, not the processed, genetically-modified alternatives destroying our digestive systems and widening our waistlines.

By giving the body the nutrients it needs, it can focus on attacking invaders like cancer and other diseases, as it should.

 

6. SATURATED FATS ARE TOXIC TO THE BODY.

The belief that saturated fats raise your risk of heart disease by raising your cholesterol is widespread. In fact, it was this belief that sparked the low-fat diet craze in the seventies that is still prevalent today.

The simple truth is that low-fat diets are detrimental to the body, and high-fat diets are the complete opposite. They're beneficial to the body, and people who eat high amounts of saturated fats weigh less, live longer, and are more satisfied after meals, and therefore less prone to over-eat.

The belief that saturated fats increase LDL (bad cholesterol) levels in the body is also incorrect. Instead, saturated fats increase the size of LDL particles, which renders them harmless.

Low-fat diets do the opposite, dimininshing the size of LDL particles in the blood stream and therefore making them dangerous to the body.

 

7. DEPRESSION AND OTHER MENTAL DISORDERS ARE CAUSED BY CHEMICAL IMBALANCES WITHIN THE BRAIN. There has never been any evidence to support the idea that depression and other mental disorders are caused by a chemical imbalance within the brain.

In fact, the only reason this hypothesis has gained as much traction as it has is due to the fact that in the 1950's, neurotransmitters such as seratonin and dopamine were found to have beneficial effects on people with depression and other mental disorders.

Therefore, the medical and scientific industry assumed that this must mean the brain had a deficiency in either of those neurotransmitters, and began prescribing them as the answer for these so-called "chemical imbalances."

WebMD says this, "...Although it is widely believed that a serotonin deficiency plays a role in depression, there is no way to measure its levels in the living brain. Therefore, there have not been any studies proving that brain levels of this or any neurotransmitter are in short supply when depression or any mental illness develops."

 

8. IF YOU EAT WELL, YOU DON'T NEED DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS.

This one is completely false, and most of it goes along with the processes foods are put through before they ever arrive on our tables or in our stomachs.

Quite simply, the chemicals used in fertilizers, insect repellents, and preservation destroy any nutritional value in modern foods. Antibiotics, growth hormones, and GMOs are at fault, as well. Our bodies have to work harder to digest artificial foods, and often, most foods are only partially digested. 

This results in weakened digestive systems which cannot absorb nutrients properly, provided there are nutrients to be absorbed to begin with!

Cooking (particularly in microwaves) can destroy a large portion of vitamins and minerals even in organic foods, which can be days, if not weeks old by the time they arrive in stores, let alone your pantry. In addition, frequent alcohol and coffee consumption, smoking, and oral contraceptives inhibit the body's ability to absorb vitamins and minerals in food, and can damage the digestive system.

As a result, a large portion of the population suffers from vitamin and mineral deficiencies and doesn't know it. They believe they can get the nutrients from their food, but as shown above, this feat is growing harder and harder to accomplish.

This makes supplementation essential. Without it, our bodies will continue on a downward decline, unable to heal itself, and growing only more and more susceptible to illness and  disease.

How to Jumpstart - Or Kill - Your Immune System

This time of year, germs seem to be everywhere. Whether it's the common cold, the flu, a stomach bug, a mystery respiratory virus, or something much, much worse, it seems like coming down with some sort of sickness is inevitable. It doesn't have to be.

Below are two lists: one containing the best things you can do to preserve and promote a healthy immune system, and another containing the worst things.

Beneath that, we have a list of things around the house that are most likely to be germ hot-spots, and things you'll want to clean very, very well.

BEST:

  • Probiotics: gut health comprises 80% of the immune system. Keep the gut healthy, and the immune system will be, too!
  • Exercise: this boosts white blood cell activity to fight off infection.
  • Weight Management: make it a goal to obtain and maintain a healthy weight. Obesity cripples the immune system and several other processes and organs in the body.
  • Diet: eat organic whole food - mainly fruits and vegetables. These are high in antioxidants and nutrients the body needs to support healthy immune function.

The Art of Oil Pulling

WHAT IS OIL PULLING AND HOW DOES IT WORK? Oil pulling is an Indian folk remedy originating thousands of years ago. It involves swishing a tablespoon of oil in your mouth and through your teeth for ten to twenty minutes. This targets plaque by absorbing bacteria and dissolving it before it can become stuck to your teeth.

HOW TO OIL PULL (WITH COCONUT OIL)

  1. Put about a tablespoon of oil in your mouth.
  2. Swish the oil around your mouth for ten to twenty minutes, pushing and pulling it through your teeth to clean every nook and cranny.
  3. Spit the oil into a trash can. If you spit into your sink, the oil will harden and clog your pipes.

Note: coconut oil can be solid at room temperature, so you may have to wait for it to melt in your mouth before you can begin swishing.coconut oil

For best results, do this on an empty stomach.

White Flour vs. Whole Grains, and the Importance of Tre-En-En

We hear a lot about whole grains these days. Some people say they're good for us; others tell us to avoid them at all costs. Here we'll take a closer look at both whole grains and white flour, and see what roles they play in our diets. Until the invention of steel rollers in 1839, grains were ground by hand at a slow speed and low temperature. With rollers, the process quickened and it became easier to separate out the different parts of wheat: the germ, endosperm, and bran, and hence came the emergence of white flour.

Since this and the processing of three other staples of health (sugar, fats, andtre-en-en2 dairy), there's been a highly-documented rise in degenerative health issues, including:

  • arthritis
  • allergies
  • asthma
  • cancer
  • depression
  • mental disorders
  • and heart disease.

Furthermore, the more we consume white flour, the greater the research grows against it. For one thing, white flour cannot support life.

Apple Cider Vinegar (with "The Mother")

Most people know that apple cider vinegar with the mother (a naturally-occurring bacterial foam containing enzymes and minerals) is beneficial to their health, but not how. Here’s a list of the many benefits and below that, a list of practical uses and directions.

PRACTICAL USES: • An effective, yet gentle all-purpose cleaner.

• Cures hiccups. A spoonful stops them in their tracks.

• A mouth rinse to whiten teeth and eliminate bad breath.

• Fade bruises. Dab the bruise with Apple Cider Vinegar or use a compress.

• Salad dressing! Make a half and half mixture with olive oil for a tasty, zingy flavor.

• Make your hair shine by mixing ½ tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar with a cup of cold water and rinse through your hair after shampooing.

• Remove skin tags. Dab a cotton ball with Apple Cider Vinegar on the skin tag two or three times daily. The skin tag will turn black and fall of painlessly in a few days.

• Get rid of warts! Soak a cotton ball in the vinegar then fasten it over the wart with a Band-Aid overnight. The wart will fall off. Continue treatment for a few days to ensure the wart doesn’t return.

• Soothes sunburn. Add Apple Cider Vinegar to your bath and soak for ten minutes.

• Repels fleas. Spray and rub into your pet’s fur. Do this for several days.

• Use it to clean toilets. Pour Apple Cider Vinegar into the bowl and let it sit overnight. The acid will scrub the inside of the toilet clean. Flush in the morning.

• Eliminate dandruff. Apply a half and half mixture of Apple Cider Vinegar and water and apply to the scalp. Allow this to sit for an hour or two, then rinse.

The Health Benefits of Nattokinase

What is it? Nattokinase is an enzyme grown on the Japanese food, Natto, a dish of fermented soybeans. For over a thousand years, Natto was commonly known and used for benefiting heart health, but no one knew why.

Things You Didn't Know About the Liver

There are at least 561 known functions of the liver. Here are a few:

  • Average weight is 3 1/2 pounds.
